Make a Reservation

Our reservations are managed through airbnb.com. Please click on the "Check Availability" button of the room you prefer and follow the indicated steps to send us a reservation request. We will respond promptly to your request as to whether the room is available or not (and if not, will indicate if the other room is available instead). I'm afraid we can no longer take reservations over the telephone or by email. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, but we believe that the vetting and review process provided by airbnb is a benefit to us all. Please note that we request a 2-night minimum stay and do not take reservations more than 3 months in advance. Do not hesitate to email us with any questions or concerns you have at contact@buckeyeandfrog.com.

Our Bed & Breakfast offers two second-floor bedrooms with separate entrances and en suite bathrooms. Click here for note on ADA-compliance.

The Frog Room

So named because of Dominique's original nationality, The Frog Room has a queen-sized bed and a beautiful carved wood-burning fireplace. It is furnished with a 19th century desk, a family heirloom that he brought to the U.S., and an early 20th century wooden valet that belonged to his father. The small chair next to the desk is 100-150 years old and was purchased from a French church by Dominique's mother. The beautifully-tiled en suite bathroom is equipped with a vanity, mirror, toilet, and glassed-in shower.

The Buckeye Room

This warm and cozy room is furnished with an Amish-made double bed from Holmes County, about 60 miles south of Oberlin and home to the largest Amish population in Ohio. (If you have a car and the time, it is well worth a drive through the beautiful rolling hills of this area; watch out for buggies.) It features character-grade white oak flooring milled by a local Amish craftsman from Ohio trees. The beautifully-tiled en suite bathroom is equipped with a vanity, mirror, toilet, and glassed-in shower.

Your Stay

Each room has an excellent view of the western gardens, including our huge buckeye tree from the west- and south-facing windows. In addition, guests are welcome to spend time in the living room - where there is a tv, books, and games - or, in nice weather, on the side porch (highly recommended). Strolling in our backyard along the paths through the ivy is also encouraged. Free WIFI is available in all locations.

We provide coffee makers stocked with coffee, tea, cream, and sugar in each room. A simple continental breakfast is included in the price of the room and you are welcome to help yourself to toast and cereal or you can bring/buy your own and we’ll make some space for it in our refrigerator or pantry. We’ll show you where the plates, cups, and silverware are and just ask that you clean up after yourselves when you’re done eating.

We do not allow any cooking in our kitchen, no exceptions; please don’t ask.

When our schedules permit, we offer a prepared hot breakfast for an additional charge. You are under absolutely no obligation to purchase our breakfast; it’s simply a service we offer, when we can, for your enjoyment and convenience. That said, we operated as a full bed and breakfast for several years and our breakfasts are pretty good. We feature local and/or organic products to the greatest extent possible. Our eggs come from our own organic, free-range chickens. But we will absolutely not be insulted if you prefer to sleep in and/or have breakfast at one of the fine restaurants in Oberlin.
